SEO is important if you want your content efforts to be seen. The problem is; how exactly do you do that if you’re not technically savvy? Truth be told, it takes a lot of skill and strategy to leverage this influencing process. However, there are few SEO tips and tricks you can master if you want to get to grips with the basics.
SEO Tips – Audience First, SEO Second
We’re so used to hearing about the importance of SEO and maximising content that sometimes it’s easy to forget the real purpose of it. Content needs to be valuable and it needs to have depth. You have to know your readers and what they want. Quality content is meant to inform or entertain, so make sure you’re not just writing for the sake of Google (Google will know this and it won’t help).
Good Headlines are Worth the Headache
A headline is your shop window. Make sure it’s eye catching enough to tempt the reader in. It should provide a clear idea of what the content is about. You should not use a misleading headline simply to draw in clicks, as this will be penalised. Both the headline and the content within need to have integrity. For the purpose of SEO, it’s also important that your headline includes at least one keyword for the subject you’re covering.
If the Introduction is Rubbish, Don’t Bother with the Rest
For our SEO Agency in Sandwell, one of the first things we’re ever taught about writing is that the introductory paragraph needs to set the scene and grip the reader. Digital content is no different.
Think about how your audience will find your article using search engines, and then use this search query as the intro. A meaningful keyword phrase in the lead paragraph will significantly help your content’s visibility on search engines.
Don’t Go It Alone
They say it’s not what you know; it’s whom you know. This is similar when it comes to getting eyes on your content. Being connected is how we thrive, a website, in particularly content, needs internal and external links for it to rank higher. Strong links will provide credibility to your content and further build trust with your audience.
